During a focused meeting aimed at streamlining the allocation of houses to textile mill workers in Mumbai, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued a directive to officials on Monday. He urged them to expedite the scrutiny of applications, with a clear timeline of three months for completion.

Shinde emphasized the urgency to not only hasten the allocation process but also enhance the housing quota in Mumbai itself. Additionally, he stressed the need for immediate repairs to houses in Thane, Rajgoli, and Kon-Panvel areas. The directive extended to the acceleration of the lottery process for 5,000 houses.

"The government's unwavering commitment is to provide homes to the families of textile mill workers. We have intensified the process, and some households have already been handed over. With MHADA receiving a staggering 1.74 lakh applications, our goal is to review each one within the next three months," Chief Minister Shinde shared with the media following the meeting held at Sahyadri guest house.

Shinde's dedication to this endeavor was further evident as he directed BMC officials to initiate work on the Textile Mill Museum in the city. Furthermore, he expressed that the kin of mill workers would be offered employment opportunities within the museum, thereby extending support to the families of those who have been the backbone of the textile industry.
