Gucci's creative director, Sabato De Sarno, made a spectacular runway debut at Milan Fashion Week, and now the luxury brand is bringing the experience to the metaverse. The collection, titled "Ancora," meaning "yet" or "even now," embodies the joy of life, passion, humanity, and inclusivity.
To ensure inclusivity, Gucci has recreated the event in the metaverse, offering dedicated experiences on gaming platforms such as Roblox, Zepeto, and QQ. Unlike the real-life show, which faced venue changes due to torrential rain, the metaverse versions went off without a hitch.
Roblox players can explore Gucci Ancora, a refined metaverse version of the Milan show's location in the Brera district. They can interact with flat artwork, unlock immersive quests, and discover real-world show elements and surprises. Gucci's relationship with Roblox dates back to 2021, with the virtual Dionysus handbag gaining immense popularity.
In the Zepeto space on NAVER Z, avatars can discover looks from the physical show in a purpose-built theater. Zepeto previously livestreamed Gucci's Cruise runway show and hosted an avatar version where visitors could purchase virtual Gucci items. QQ is also screening the event for its Gucci community. Gucci's foray into the metaverse continues to blend fashion with technology and inclusivity.
