Their collection nods to universal symbols of summer that evoke a sense of nostalgia and excitement- starfish, seashells, coral and more treasures of the sea. Awning stripes, beach blanket plaids and tropical florals are reimagined with bold strokes. Joyful citrus brights-lemon, lime and orange twists- play well with airy whites. Their iconic Sam bag is updated in fresh sherbet colorways and novelty iterations. And hello, sunshine: where you’ll also spot the modernist rays of a reissued sun print by iconic designer and artist Alexander Girard.

Handbags & Small Leather Goods (SLGs), the brand’s Sam bag; the style that started it all; returns for Summer 2023 with new seasonal iterations. Crossbodies, shoulder bags and backpacks made from 100 percent recycled nylon and spazzolato leather is introduced in fresh sherbet colorways and stripes. Inspired by a heritage print, Sam also showcases sea anemone and sequin animations in a nod to beach adventures.

Summer is all about catching some rays, and this season Kate Spade reintroduces a capsule in collaboration with designer and artist, Alexander Girard. The reimagined sun print collection fittingly connects archival prints and new designs as it marks the brand’s 30th anniversary. The brilliant sun print is featured on large tote bags in bright colours, as well as other cross-category styles, like sweaters and tee-shirts.

Seasonal novelty embraces underwater exploration with the What the Shell group. The assortment, featuring a 3D shell crossbody, sea coral-embellished wicker tote, acrylic seashell clutch and nautilus shell shoulder bag, offers an updated rendition of Kate Spade New York’s nautical motif- with the perfect amount of wit and whimsy. Lemon Drop rounds out the new novelty group. Straw, wicker and raffia handbags, along with SLGs in dandelion yellow, evoke freshly squeezed lemonade.

The Boxxy crossbody-which went viral on TikTok in Fall 2022-is back in blueberry and cream colorways, creating 3D puzzle motif.

The brand’s core groups—Evelyn, Gramercy and Knott—speaks to the summer season with woven stripes and whipstitch. There’s lots of raffia, too. Bags are hand-crocheted in seasonal shades of pink, blue, green and yellow. Brand signatures - Spade Monogram and Spade Flower Jacquard - are reimagined via new colour runs in an elevated canvas material.

Ready-to-wear, seasonal prints add a jaunty shot of colour to the season’s RTW collection. Madras, summer stripes, tropical florals and novelty motifs (lemons, seashells and suns) play big across categories.

Meanwhile, unexpected colour combos - think navy and yellow, bright pink and orange -bring vibrancy to the pieces. Styles featuring fabrications of chambray, seersucker and crochet are suited for all adventures - casual, formal and in between. Summer clothing continues to pay homage to vacation-wear with nautical-esque stripes, tropical animations and more Good Luck Dot animations from Handbags and SLGs. 

Awning stripes and organza team up in chic evening-wear separates, while palm leaves meet brocade in a top and pant set. For a touch of texture, crochet and chambray denim add surface interest to skirts and dresses.

This season, seersucker is included as a warm weather fabrication in the Coastal Plaid Tiered Mini Dress, Coastal Plaid Bow Dress, the Coastal Plaid Seersucker Blazer and Shorts for a mix-and-match suiting option.

The swimwear selection also pulls inspiration from the season’s motifs. The sea anemone one piece and bikini channel underwater adventure while other swim sets pay homage to bold, cabana stripes in hues of pink, red and navy blue.

Jewellery

Summer jewellery complements handbags and ready-to-wear. Classic pieces are back along with seasonal motifs, which make a strong showing.

For Kate Spade New York enthusiasts, Heritage Bloom offers an updated interpretation of our brand signature spade, while Idiom Bangles deliver inspiring messages with charm and wit. With stone and pastel colourways that mimic sea glass, High Shine is a new collection with an abstract take on summer’s oceanside theme. Reef Treasure, Sea Star and Sea Siren provide novelty jewellery inspired by sea creatures, seashells, coral and buried treasure.

Fresh Squeeze aptly showcases lemons on jewellery staples, including hair clips and pins.

All Seeing casts evil eye-inspired imagery on earrings, necklaces and charm bracelets.

Power and freshly picked bring fresh summer blooms to a seasonal assortment that features animations composed of resin, glass and leather.

Shoes

Summer footwear offers reimagined silhouettes, mixed materials and updated takes on brand classics that embody the spirit of summer. New styles revisit some of our strongest cross category ideas. Cali Gem echoes the playfulness of the season with crystal-adorned jelly sandals.

Malibu is a modern take on a classic mule with raffia and nappa leather accents in beach sand, rose jam, Kate Spade green, and anemone colourways. Veronica carries on the raffia fabrication with flat and high heel slingbacks in several hues, while the Bora Bora group brings excitement to any ongoing summer adventure.

Ibiza channels lemon novelty and ready-to-wear awning stripes in chunky platform wedges, and Bahama adds drama in the form of feather-accented kitten heel sandals. More nods to novelty can be found in the Santorini wedge with its ladybug and blazer blue coral embroidery and es padrille styles Starfish, Azura Coral and Tide, which have under the sea-inspired appliques.

Tech accessories riff on the motifs and themes from the cross-category assortment. Laptop bags, phone cases, and AirPod cases feature animations and colorways from Knott, Sam, Good Luck Dot, Spade Flower as well as Under the Sea and Lemon Drop novelty groups.
