TEXTILE EXHIBITION NATIONAL

The Surat International Textile Expo (SITEX) 2024 commenced its three-day showcase of cutting-edge textile machinery on Saturday at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre. Drawing in over 100 exhibitors from various corners of the country specializing in textile machinery manufacturing, the event is organized by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).
In his address at the expo, Additional Commissioner (Textiles) S P Verma disclosed that a substantial amount of Rs 20,000 crore has been disbursed over the past four years under the Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS). He also noted that during this period, India has imported textile machinery worth over Rs 20,000 crore from countries such as China, Germany, Belgium, Japan, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
Additionally, India has exported textile machinery amounting to Rs 14,000 crore during this period.
Highlighting Surat's prominence as a hub for man-made fiber (MMF) textiles, SGCCI President Ramesh Vaghasia shared an optimistic outlook. He stated that by 2047, India is poised to become a fully developed country, with its economy projected to grow tenfold. This growth is expected to trigger an increased demand for garments over the next two decades.
Bijal Jariwala, Chairman of the SGCCI exhibition committee, emphasized the pivotal role of SITEX in contributing to the growth of South Gujarat. Anticipating a significant turnout, he revealed that over 15,000 visitors had already registered for the exhibition. Furthermore, expectations extend to visitors from neighboring countries such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The expo is seen as a crucial platform not only for showcasing technological advancements but also for fostering regional and international collaborations in the textile sector.
