Beyoncé, the 29-time Grammy winner, has unveiled plans to debut her own hair care line on February 20th. The announcement came via Instagram, where the music icon shared a nostalgic video featuring footage from her mother's salon, Headliners, located in Houston, Texas. In the video, Beyoncé can be seen in childhood clips, donning a pink tracksuit and assisting at the salon where she had her first job sweeping hair.
Accompanying the video, Beyoncé shared a caption that read, "Hair is sacred," along with the reveal of the brand name, Cécred. The footage includes snippets of Tina Knowles, Beyoncé's mother, dressed up and waving to the camera, emphasizing the family's connection to the beauty industry.
Throughout the video, scenes of hair washing, braiding, and styling are interspersed with the archival footage. It's evident that Tina Knowles' influence on her daughter's career has been profound, with Beyoncé acknowledging her mother's impact on her upbringing and career trajectory.
In a statement to the press, Beyoncé emphasized the significance of hair to Black women and expressed her desire to create a community where women of all races can share their hair care experiences and support one another. She aims to empower women to embrace their own strength and stories through the Cécred brand.
While specific details about the products offered by Cécred have not yet been disclosed, a trademark request filed in 2022 suggests that the company plans to produce a wide range of hair care products, as well as other items such as candles, vitamin supplements, and hair accessories.
This announcement comes after Beyoncé teased the venture last year, revealing her aspirations to continue her mother's legacy in the beauty industry. With the launch date fast approaching, fans eagerly await further details about Beyoncé's venture into the world of hair care.
