On this World Environment Day, IKEA India reaffirms its commitment to sustainable practices and positive environmental impact. Susanne Pulverer, CEO & CSO of IKEA India, shared the company’s latest initiatives and achievements on her LinkedIn page, highlighting the importance of collective action for a better planet.
To mark the occasion, IKEA organized a flea market for its co-workers across various units. This event encouraged employees to exchange pre-loved items, giving second-hand treasures a new lease on life. The flea market not only promoted the concept of reuse but also fostered a sense of community and shared responsibility among the co-workers.
In a significant move to support sustainable business practices, IKEA India has partnered with the SME Climate Hub. This collaboration provides small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with free access to a suite of tools and expert guidance designed to enhance their sustainability efforts. The resources offered by SME Climate Hub include a carbon footprint calculator powered by Normative, an informative e-learning course called Climate Fit education, and comprehensive guides on implementing sustainable business interventions. This initiative aims to empower IKEA's business partners to thrive and grow sustainably.
Furthermore, IKEA India has made remarkable progress in reducing its carbon footprint through its zero-emission delivery program. Currently, 85% of IKEA’s product deliveries are made using electric vehicles (EVs), a critical step towards lowering CO2 emissions. This milestone has been achieved with the support of IKEA's dedicated partners, who play a vital role in this sustainable journey.
Pulverer emphasized the importance of small actions leading to significant changes, encouraging everyone to contribute to environmental sustainability in their own capacity. She highlighted that collective efforts, no matter how small, can make a substantial difference in creating a more sustainable future.
IKEA India’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and its proactive initiatives on World Environment Day reflect the company’s dedication to making a positive impact on the environment. By sensitizing co-workers, customers, and partners about sustainable practices, IKEA continues to lead by example in the global movement towards a greener planet.
