In a splendid display of cultural heritage and craftsmanship, Genelia Deshmukh showcased a breathtaking ensemble at the Ambani wedding, embodying the essence of Indian tradition. The attire, which emphasizes the value and heritage of culture, was a perfect reflection of this theme.
The ensemble, masterfully crafted and curated by Ateev Anand of Re Ceremonial, featured a stunning Himroo shawl as its centerpiece. This exquisite piece was woven at LoomKatha’s Himroo centre in Aurangabad, highlighting the intricate craftsmanship of artisan weaver Rubina Begum. Made from recycled cotton and zari, the shawl boasts a classic design inspired by traditional Himroo jaal patterns. Complementing the shawl, Re Ceremonial’s Adaa choli, also woven in Himroo, is meticulously hand-embroidered with glass beads. The ensemble is completed with a flowing 9-yard ivory saree featuring a zari pallu.
Genelia's attire is a homage to Indian heritage, representing the authentic weave of Maharashtra and encapsulating the essence of diversity and multicultural values. It is a testament to the breathtaking artistry where tradition meets modern elegance.
LoomKatha, dedicated to reviving and celebrating Himroo, aims to connect rural artisans and handloom weavers to the global market. By doing so, they ensure that the economic value of the end-product is transferred back to the producers. Their focus is on discovering crafts on the verge of extinction, nurturing them through skill development programs, and linking practitioners to sustainable markets worldwide.
This remarkable collaboration and commitment to preserving traditional crafts were proudly shared on LoomKatha’s official LinkedIn page, marking a significant step in the revival of almost-lost heritage and craftsmanship.
