RX’s in-cosmetics Asia trade show, hosted at BITEC in Bangkok, Thailand, has announced the debut of The Cosmetic Conference, a new addition to the event. Scheduled for 5-6 November, the conference will be held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) and will offer a series of free-to-attend, technical, science-based talks featuring experts from companies such as L’Oréal, Shiseido, A*Star Skin Research Labs, Formulae 8, and Shieling Laboratories.
Asia Pacific is rapidly emerging as a key market for beauty and personal care, with revenue in the region expected to reach $253.1 billion this year, accounting for 40% of the global market. The Cosmetic Conference will focus on emerging trends in cosmetic science, including topics like microbiomes, pigmentation, and ageing skin.
This year’s in-cosmetics Asia 2024 will be the largest in the event’s 15-year history, featuring over 650 exhibitors from various regions. With AI and virtual reality becoming increasingly integral to the beauty industry, the conference will also explore AI’s impact on the cosmetics market, which was valued at $3.22 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow to $15.75 billion by 2031.
Tomo Osawa, the regional Asia Pacific innovation centre director at Shiseido, will share insights on how beauty influences the ageing process and addresses deep skin concerns. The conference will also tackle the issue of misinformation in the industry, particularly the challenges posed by misleading information and the distortion of reality through editing apps on social media. Danilo Lambino, founder and director of Formulae 8 Pty Ltd, will deliver a two-part presentation on making smart ingredient choices for new product development.
Suncare remains a significant category in beauty and personal care, with global product values expected to grow by 4% annually until 2028. Dr. Oliver Hofmann, official technical advisor for in-cosmetics Asia and technical director at Shieling Laboratories, will present key insights on achieving adequate sun protection beyond high SPF numbers.
Robert McPherson, presidium member at IFSCC, remarked, “Collaboration between in-cosmetics Asia and the Cosmetic Conference is a natural fit, as we complement each other perfectly. With over 16,000 members worldwide, the IFSCC is committed to advancing cosmetic research and fostering innovation.”
Sarah Gibson, event director at in-cosmetics Asia, added, “The APAC region is experiencing a pivotal moment as the beauty industry celebrates one of its most successful years. We invite industry professionals to join us at The Cosmetic Conference for an inspiring program that will push the boundaries of cosmetic science and technology.”
