Andhra Pradesh’s draft textile policy is set to attract ₹10,000 crore in investments, aiming to create two lakh jobs. During a review meeting on the proposed policy, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the need for the new framework to surpass the previous 2018–23 policy.
Highlighting the potential of the textile sector, Naidu underscored its capability to generate large-scale employment for rural women. He remarked that with the implementation of this policy, Andhra Pradesh would emerge as a prime destination for textile investments.
The Chief Minister, expressing satisfaction with the draft policy, approved it for further consideration and a formal introduction before the Cabinet. The new textile policy will be among over 10 sector-specific policies recently introduced by the State Government.
The proposed policy focuses on incentivizing weaving, processing, garment manufacturing, and integrated units. It also increases capital subsidies and introduces additional benefits for SC, ST, BC, and minority communities, as well as women entrepreneurs.
In addition to textiles, the Chief Minister reviewed the draft leather policy, noting that a final decision on it would be made following further deliberations.
