This week marked the conclusion of a six-month strategic collaboration between SU.RE (Sustainable Resolution) and the British Council, culminating in the presentation of transformative roadmaps for sustainability in the fashion industry. The project fostered international partnerships, facilitating knowledge exchange and creating a platform for sustainable change.
The initiative brought together delegates from SU.RE and like-minded organizations across the UK, Copenhagen, and beyond. With key objectives to empower learning, develop actionable strategies, and catalyze change, the collaboration provided a fertile ground for tackling critical issues in the fashion value chain.
During the final session, delegates presented detailed roadmaps addressing pressing areas such as sustainable packaging, innovative materials, employee welfare, and carbon footprint reduction. These actionable strategies underline SU.RE’s commitment to driving the transition toward sustainability in the Indian apparel industry.
The collaboration also connected SU.RE with The New Landscapes grantees, an India-UK enterprise consortium platform aimed at resolving challenges in the fashion ecosystem. This partnership enabled the exchange of innovative solutions between retailers and startups, creating new avenues for cross-border synergies.
SU.RE is India’s largest voluntary commitment to sustainable fashion. Spearheaded by the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), Reliance Brands Limited (RBL), the United Nations in India, and the Ministry of Textiles, SU.RE reflects the Indian apparel industry’s resolve to promote sustainability and responsible business practices.
This milestone initiative was highlighted on SU.RE’s official LinkedIn page, reinforcing the significance of the collaboration in setting the stage for a more sustainable and equitable fashion industry.
