Renowned couturier Suneet Varma captivated fashion enthusiasts once again as he unveiled his latest collections at the highly anticipated Fashion Connect Season 20 Grand Finale. The event took place on March 12, 2025, at the Fairmont Mumbai, celebrating 20 years of Fashion Connect, a platform that has long championed India’s finest fashion talent.
“Mumbai has always been a favorite city of mine to be at, to party at, to dress. Some of the coolest and best-dressed people are in that city who are trendsetters, and it’s always a pleasure to show and sell here,” said Suneet Varma. At this year’s event, Suneet Varma presents an amalgamation of two of his most celebrated collections, “Nazm” and, “Quetzalli’, a special collaboration with PATRÓN, the world’s #1 super-premium tequila. The evening seamlessly blended couture and luxury spirits in a celebration of craftsmanship and creativity.
The Nazm collection seamlessly blended India’s rich decorative arts with contemporary couture, staying true to the Sunni Dharma DNA, keeping it young, sexy, sophisticated, and fun. It celebrated traditional craftsmanship while incorporating modern sensibilities through meticulous research and development. Featuring hand-embroidered appliqué, luxurious metallic tissue, pastel organza, and chiffon in a refined palette of midnight blue, burgundy, silver, and jewel tones, the collection radiated timeless elegance. Suneet also showcased his collaboration with PATRÓN, inspired by his visit to the PATRÓN Hacienda in Mexico. The Quetzalli collection fused Mexican artistry with Indian craftsmanship, offering a sensual yet modern elegance through intricate lacework, sheer fabrics, and bold separates, embodying both the spirit of PATRÓN tequila and Suneet’s couture vision.
“I was incredibly excited to showcase ‘Nazm’ at Fashion Connect’s 20th anniversary in Mumbai,” said Suneet Varma. “This collection was my personal homage to India’s rich artistic legacy, reimagined for a contemporary audience. It was about the modern Indian woman—confident, sensual, and unapologetically herself. I hoped each piece would become a cherished heirloom, celebrating individuality.” With a focus on three-dimensional embroidery and innovative embellishments, the designer had always pushed the boundaries of couture. His use of hand-crafted techniques, such as creating custom sequins and intricate tassels made from glass beads, showcased his commitment to innovation in couture.
In addition to his celebrated womenswear collection, he also presented his menswear line, continuing to evolve and redefine modern elegance. With his menswear, the designer adhered to the philosophy that “less is more,” focusing on sleek, sophisticated designs that maintained an understated allure. Featuring silk jacquard fabrics, the garments shimmered in shades of ivory, ice blue, mint, navy, and cobalt. The collection included thread embroidery and floral jacquards, emphasizing craftsmanship and creating close-fitting, youthful silhouettes. Suneet Varma’s menswear remained grounded in simple elegance, with an emphasis on subtle sophistication.
For Suneet, this occasion was particularly special, as Mumbai, with its vibrant and dynamic fashion scene, had always held a special place in his heart, and showcasing his work there during Fashion Connect’s 20th anniversary was a truly significant moment. “Mumbai is a city of immense energy, creativity, and style,” he said. “It’s a market that values fashion, and I was truly excited to be back here, presenting my best work to date.”
The Fashion Connect Season 20 Grand Finale proved to be an unforgettable evening, where couture met luxury spirits and India’s top designer showcased two of his finest collections. With Nazm and his menswear line, along with the PATRÓN collaboration, Suneet Varma continued to blend tradition with modernity, offering a seamless fusion of craftsmanship, creativity, and contemporary style.
