Indian skincare startup Sohrai Beauty is redefining beauty rituals with a deep-rooted commitment to heritage, innovation, and purpose. Founded by Khanak Gupta and Rupesh Pawar, Sohrai Beauty was born with the vision of bridging India's ancient traditions with cutting-edge skincare science. The brand’s hero ingredient, Mahua Oil, is revered for its antioxidant-rich and deeply nourishing properties. Sourced from indigenous regions where it has long been celebrated by tribal communities, Mahua is now being reintroduced as a potent, high-performance skincare ingredient.

Gupta, an LSE and Babson College alumna with a background in the U.S. pharmaceutical industry, returned to India to spotlight underrepresented rituals and rare botanicals from her homeland. Her co-founder, Pawar, grew up in a tribal village in Maharashtra and witnessed firsthand the significance of Mahua in everyday life. As a scientist at the Institute of Chemical Technology, he delved into Mahua’s unique composition—exploring its skin-rejuvenating potential and unlocking its promise through years of dedicated research.
