In a major push towards India’s self-reliance and the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Tynor Orthotics—India’s largest manufacturer of orthopaedic aids—has inaugurated Ortech Textiles, a state-of-the-art textile manufacturing facility in Mohali, Punjab. Established with an investment of ₹300 crore, the plant signifies a critical move toward backward integration and is fully independent of Chinese imports.
The high-tech facility was officially inaugurated in the presence of Punjab’s Industries, IT & Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who attended as Chief Guest, alongside Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh, the Guest of Honour.
Spanning six acres, the Ortech Textiles unit is designed to exclusively supply raw materials to Tynor Orthotics, enhancing both the quality and efficiency of its production pipeline. The company, which currently operates a ₹600 crore production line, aims to scale operations to ₹2,000 crore with the support of this new unit.
Dr. P. J. Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of Tynor Orthotics, noted that the new facility is a pivotal milestone in the company’s roadmap toward complete self-reliance. “This in-house unit will manufacture high-grade technical textiles used in orthopaedic aids, enabling a 25% improvement in product quality and a 25% reduction in raw material costs,” he said.
In addition to enhancing product capabilities, the facility is set to generate employment for approximately 1,000 to 1,500 individuals, contributing significantly to local economic development. Executive Director A. J. Singh further announced that the Tynor Group plans to double its workforce from 2,500 to 5,000 employees, propelled by the scale and output of the new plant.
Singh credited the Punjab Government’s progressive industrial policies for making such a large-scale investment feasible. “With this infrastructure in place, we are on course to becoming one of the top three orthopaedic aid manufacturers globally,” he added.
The Ortech facility is equipped with cutting-edge machinery, including 3D knitting, jacquard knitting, lamination, and neoprene fabric production technologies, giving Tynor a distinctive edge in vertically integrated, high-performance orthopaedic manufacturing.
Currently a market leader in India and five other countries, Tynor exports to over 60 global markets. With the launch of Ortech, the company is set to further expand its footprint, targeting dominance in 100 emerging markets worldwide.
The launch of Ortech Textiles positions both Tynor and the state of Punjab at the forefront of India’s burgeoning medical manufacturing sector, underlining a commitment to innovation, economic development, and global competitiveness.
