MUJI, the Japanese retail brand known for its “no brand quality goods,” has unveiled its newly relocated and expanded store at Palladium, Mumbai. Originally opened in India in 2016 with a 2,800 sq. ft. space, MUJI now welcomes customers to an expansive 11,000 sq. ft. store, the second largest in India, designed to reflect the brand’s timeless philosophy of simplicity, sustainability, and functional living.
Founded in Japan in 1980, MUJI, short for Mujirushi Ryohin, offers a wide range of everyday essentials across household goods, apparel, stationery, and food. The brand is built on three enduring principles: careful selection of materials, streamlining of processes, and simplification of packaging. Every MUJI product is created through a rational approach to design and production, resulting in goods that are simple, useful, and universally appealing.

MUJI’s products are often described as “empty vessels,” open to the personal expression of their users. This philosophy celebrates the beauty of simplicity, where function and quality take precedence over decoration or branding. The aim is to create satisfaction that comes from reason, comfort, and balance, products that make people say, “This will do.”
The new Palladium store marks a significant step in MUJI’s journey in India. Merchandising spans have increased from 65 to 193, and the product assortment has grown from 1,361 to over 1,800 articles. The store offers an expanded selection of apparel made from natural materials such as organic cotton, linen, and lyocell, self-care and skincare products, tableware, stationery, and other daily essentials.
The layout embodies MUJI’s design ethos: calm, minimal, and intuitive, encouraging conscious buying and sustainable living through simplicity and space. Every element of the store is designed to create a sense of ease and everyday mindfulness, making it a landmark destination for those who value thoughtful, functional design.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of MUJI Palladium. The store has relocated and expanded to four times its original size, offering an extensive range of apparel, self-care products, and daily essentials. As MUJI’s largest store in the heart of Mumbai, it invites customers to experience the true world of MUJI.” — Takeshi Fujimoto, COO, MUJI India.
The expanded Palladium store reinforces MUJI’s commitment to bringing thoughtful design and simple living to Indian homes, offering products that quietly enrich everyday life through quality, function, and timeless appeal.
