Kosala a premium lifestyle brand and the social enterprise initiative of Hindalco Industries Limited, today unveiled its flagship store in Greater Kailash (N Block), New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in its journey to bring ethically crafted Kosa silk to a wider audience.
The store was inaugurated by Rajashree Birla, Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, in the presence of Yami Gautam Dhar; Satish Pai, Managing Director, Hindalco Industries Limited; and Saurabh Khedekar, CEO, Alumina Business, Hindalco Industries Limited and Director, Kosala Foundation.
Rooted in heritage, Kosala elevates the timeless elegance of Kosa silk into contemporary global luxury. The Delhi store stands as a tribute to the Dewangan community, reviving ancestral skill, restoring pride, and ensuring sustainable livelihoods through craft-led, purpose-driven luxury.
At the launch, Yami Gautam Dhar, Indian Actress, said, “It feels incredibly special to be here celebrating India’s beautiful silk traditions. Seeing how every Kosa fabric comes to life, the artistry, the generations of skill passed down, the stories woven into each motif, makes you realise how much heart goes into this craft. When you support something like this, it’s not just about fashion. It’s about standing by the artisans, valuing their dedication, and keeping a precious part of our heritage alive for the future.”
Kosala presents elevated handwoven luxury for women and men, from luminous Kosa and Tussar silk sarees, dupattas, and stoles to impeccably crafted kurtas and pure Kosa silk shirts. Complemented by handcrafted bags and accessories in Kosa, Ghicha, and cotton, each piece embodies timeless refinement and artisanal excellence.
Speaking at the inauguration, Saurabh Khedekar, CEO Alumina Business, Hindalco Industries and Director, Kosala Foundation, said, "Kosala reflects our deep commitment to placing artisans at the centre of value creation while revitalising the intricate handloom art of Kosa silk, nurtured for generations by master weavers. Through Kosala, we keep the art of Indian handweaving at the heart of contemporary fashion, taking India's craftsmanship from the loom to the world."
At the flagship launch, Kosala unveiled a preview of Sunehri – Spring Summer 26, its latest collection of exquisite sarees and dupattas. Bridging the precision of coastal architecture with the romance of a shoreline in bloom, Sunehri weaves structured geometric checks with ethereal handwoven florals in a palette of salt-washed ivories and sunset corals. The store also showcases Chitr, inspired by the Ragamala tradition of Indian miniature paintings, and Vyoma, which captures the celestial rhythm of changing skies through luminous, seasonally expressive textiles.
Each creation is rooted in a transparent, artisan-led value chain that empowers over 700 weavers across Raigarh and Janjgir–Champa in Chhattisgarh. Through Kosala, Hindalco strengthens the Kosa silk ecosystem, enhancing skills, enabling direct market access, and building a sustainable model for rural entrepreneurship while safeguarding the indigenous legacy of Kosa silk.
