Fashion e-tailer AJIO has introduced ‘EX-CHANGE’, a feature on its app that allows users to exchange clothing belonging to former partners for store credits.
The programme is built around a four-step process. Users upload photographs of their ex-partner’s clothes without requiring invoices or condition checks. They then complete an ‘Emotional Damage Assessment’, a questionnaire designed to evaluate the nature of the relationship. Based on this, the platform assigns credits, which can be redeemed on the app.
According to the company, the system includes additional credit multipliers for scenarios such as situationships (+20%), gaslighting (+35%), and 'chronic failure to text first' (+15%). Credits are issued instantly.
At the centre of the feature is what the company describes as a proprietary assessment algorithm that evaluates communication patterns, commitment levels, and “red flag density” to determine credit value.
“The worse it was, the better the credits.”
The feature is available on the AJIO app, and credits can be used across its catalogue, which includes over 6,500 brands and more than 3 million styles.
