PUMA and HYROX hosted a fitness race event in Bengaluru, marking the format’s expansion into another Indian city. The event saw participation from badminton player PV Sindhu, while cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur attended and supported the event.
Sindhu took part in a mixed relay format comprising eight 1 km runs interspersed with eight functional workout stations, including sled push and rowing. The format combines endurance running with strength-based exercises.
Two-time Olympic medalist and PUMA Ambassador, PV Sindhu said: "Badminton has always been my world - but HYROX is completely different. There is no opponent across the net, just you, the clock, and eight stations that test everything at once. I won't pretend it was easy. But that is exactly what drew me to it.
Harmanpreet Kaur cheered me on and brought an energy that pushed me harder. As athletes, we are always looking for the thing that makes us better at what we do. PUMA has always backed us to go beyond our sport, and this weekend, we did exactly that."
World Cup Winning Captain and PUMA ambassador Harmanpreet Kaur said: “I lead a team each time I step onto a cricket field but watching PV Sindhu take on the PUMA x HYROX challenge was a unique experience. We come from very different sporting disciplines, with very different training worlds, and watching her compete at the highest level was incredible to witness.
HYROX tests you in ways your own sport doesn't always prepare you for. That’s the culture PUMA and HYROX are building in India, and I’m glad I got to be a part of it. I would love to take on the challenge myself next year.”
According to the organisers, the Bengaluru event recorded more than 8,200 participants across categories, indicating increased interest in the format. HYROX events were previously held in Mumbai and Delhi, with a combined participation of over 7,000.
Shreya Sachdev, head of Marketing, PUMA India, said: “At PUMA, we have always looked to push sporting culture in the country forward. Participative sport is growing exponentially, with HYROX having introduced a new frontier for fitness enthusiasts to conquer. A 166% growth in participation from the previous edition shows the potential that HYROX as a sport has in our country.
Our partnership with HYROX is pivotal in driving our vision for sport in the country and we look to consistently elevate the experience for participants, as well as introduce new audiences to this sport. Bringing the two sporting icons and PUMA ambassadors Harmanpreet Kaur and PV Sindhu for HYROX is our attempt to ensure the sport continues to reach and onboard more and more people.”
Deepak Raj, country head, HYROX India, said: “It was amazing to see PV Sindhu and Harmanpreet Kaur at Ultrahuman HYROX Bengaluru. For athletes of their calibre to step into a completely different format says a lot about their mindset. They brought great energy to the floor and inspired a lot of people to push themselves.”
HYROX entered India in 2025 with events in Mumbai and Delhi. The Bengaluru edition marks its continued expansion in the country, as the format builds a base among competitive fitness participants.
PUMA is the official sportswear partner for HYROX globally, with a multi-year agreement covering apparel and footwear for the events.
