India’s textile exports continued to demonstrate steady momentum in the financial year 2025–26, registering a growth of 2.1 per cent, reflecting sustained global demand and the sector’s inherent competitiveness across categories. According to information shared by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the country’s textile exports, including handicrafts, rose from ₹3.09 lakh crore in FY 2024–25 to ₹3.16 lakh crore in FY 2025–26.
The performance underscores the resilience of India’s textile industry amid evolving global trade dynamics, supported by a diversified product basket and expanding market reach. Among key segments, ready-made garments (RMG) continued to be the largest contributor to overall exports, maintaining its dominant position within the export portfolio. At the same time, man-made textiles and handicrafts emerged as strong growth drivers, recording notable increases and reinforcing the sector’s shift towards value-added products.
The data further highlights a broad-based expansion in India’s export footprint, with shipments reaching over 120 countries during the year. Several key global markets recorded significant growth, indicating improved demand conditions and strengthening trade relationships across regions.
Industry observers note that the continued traction in exports reflects not only favourable demand trends but also the sector’s ability to remain competitive through product diversification, quality enhancements, and improved supply chain efficiencies.
The steady growth trajectory aligns with the government’s broader vision of strengthening India’s position as a global textile hub. The export performance is seen as a positive indicator of the sector’s contribution towards building a self-reliant and globally competitive textile ecosystem, while also supporting employment generation and value creation across the textile value chain.
