Ralph Lauren has appointed Dr. Tathagat Varma as vice president and head of its global capability centre (GCC) in India, marking a key leadership addition as the luxury lifestyle company strengthens its global operations and technology capabilities from the country.
Varma announced the move on LinkedIn, stating that he has joined Ralph Lauren's India GCC in Bengaluru. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the company's capability centre operations and supporting its global business functions.
Prior to joining Ralph Lauren, Varma served as global tech ops leader at Walmart Global Tech, where he led enterprise-wide digital transformation, cloud adoption and technology modernisation initiatives. Before that, he was vice president, strategy and chief of staff at Walmart Global Tech India, overseeing strategic programmes and operational excellence initiatives.
His career also includes leadership roles at NerdWallet, where he served as country Manager, helping establish and scale the company's India development centre. Alongside his corporate career, Varma is also the founder of Cognitive Chasm, a research-led initiative focused on artificial intelligence and organisational transformation.
With experience across technology strategy, AI, digital transformation, operations and GCC management, Varma joins Ralph Lauren at a time when global enterprises are increasingly expanding the mandate of their India-based capability centres beyond support functions to drive innovation and business growth.
