Somewhere between "what should I wear" and "does this pass the vibe check," a whole generation has been quietly building a skill set nobody thought to hire for. Until now. NEWME, India's fastest-growing fashion-tech startups built for Gen Z women, is officially flipping the internship script with the launch of the Fit Check Internship, the first program of its kind anywhere in the world. The requirement is simple: if you already spend your evenings trying on outfits, hunting for the perfect transition sound, and deciding whether a fit is "giving" or not, NEWME wants to pay you for it. No cover letters, just fashion instinct, camera confidence, and an eye for what's next.
Through the two-month programme, the brand will be spending INR 20 Lakhs which will be given to 60 Fit-check interns who will be selected for 30 NEWME stores across the country. Along with the monthly stipend, interns will get ₹5,000 in NEWME shopping credits every month and a full year of free NEWME wardrobe access on top of it all.
Alongside the perks comes real, hands-on experience in retail, trend forecasting, content creation, and community building, the kind that actually goes on a resume. Each intern is matched to a NEWME store they'll visit weekly, where they'll try new drops before anyone else, shoot social-first content, clock emerging trends before they trend, and hand NEWME real-time intel straight from the fitting room. On top of that, interns move through structured learning modules on merchandising, retail operations, and brand building, so this isn't just content creation, it's a crash course in the fashion business itself.
This isn't a two-month flex and done, either. High-performing interns can level up to City Style Leads, and the top five will graduate as Fit Check Leads, unlocking a full year of NEWME outfits, features across NEWME's digital channels, campaign collaborations, and a real shot at a full-time career with the brand.
"Fashion today doesn't start on a runway but starts in a trial room, in a story, in a group chat," said Sumit Jasoria, Co-founder & CEO, NEWME. Jasoria noted that, “Millions of young consumers are already shaping trends and helping others discover fashion without ever thinking of it as a job. We have built this program to recognize that instinct as a genuine, hireable skill, giving young people a real way into the industry while helping build the next era of community-powered retail.”
Forget the resume, this one runs on receipts. If you know how to dress up like a main character, take a thousand pictures in it, and somehow find the perfect song in five minutes flat for the Instagram Story that follows, NEWME wants to know. No degree required, just a serious sense of fashion and an even more serious relationship with your camera roll. Applicants get evaluated the fun way, through a fit check submission and a creative video assignment that scores raw creativity, personality, and instinct over anything a resume could show. Applications close July 15, 2026, and the internship kicks off in August 2026, so the only real question left is whether you're cut out to be paid for your fit checks, or content watching someone else become NEWME's next Fit Check Lead.
