Apparel Group India has expanded the retail presence of British menswear brand Ben Sherman in India with the opening of a new store at Lake Shore Mall, Thane. The development marks another step in Apparel Group India’s strategy of bringing internationally recognised fashion brands closer to Indian consumers.

The store opening was announced by Apparel Group India through its official LinkedIn page, highlighting Ben Sherman’s arrival in Thane and its distinctive combination of British heritage, craftsmanship and contemporary menswear.

Founded in Brighton in 1963, Ben Sherman has built a strong identity around British style, with its signature button-down shirts becoming closely associated with the Mod movement and the evolving relationship between fashion and British youth culture. The brand’s heritage has subsequently extended across generations and subcultures, maintaining a strong connection with music, fashion and contemporary British culture.

The iconic Ben Sherman shirt remains central to the brand’s identity. Its original design drew inspiration from the American Ivy League shirt while introducing distinctive details, including a button at the back of the collar, a back hook and a strong emphasis on colour, fabric and pattern. The brand’s heritage also includes its House Check, which has become one of its recognisable design signatures.
