The Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, held wide-ranging interactions with leading representatives of the European and French textile, apparel and fashion ecosystem, as India looks to strengthen international industry partnerships and expand cooperation across key areas of the textile value chain.

The discussions brought together prominent industry and policy representatives, including Mario Jorge Machado, President of EURATEX, French Members of Parliament Sylvie Valente Le Hir and Anne-Cécile Violland, along with leaders of major French textile, fashion and apparel industry associations.

The interactions focused on strengthening India–France and India–EU textile partnerships, with particular emphasis on leveraging India’s rich textile heritage, globally competitive manufacturing capabilities and growing potential across the fashion and textile value chain.

Key areas of discussion included sustainability, circularity, innovation, fashion and high-value textiles, reflecting the growing importance of collaborative approaches to developing more resilient and environmentally responsible textile ecosystems.

The evolving India–EU economic partnership is creating new opportunities for greater engagement between businesses and industry stakeholders on both sides. Against this backdrop, the discussions highlighted the potential to expand industry-to-industry linkages, facilitate greater cooperation and identify new avenues for collaboration across the textile and apparel sectors.

Both sides expressed a strong commitment to building deeper, resilient, sustainable and future-ready textile value chains, while exploring opportunities that can support innovation, competitiveness and long-term growth across the India–France and India–EU textile partnerships.
