Lakmē × Tira Present péro opened Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI at Taj Palace, New Delhi, with the unveiling of péro’s global collaboration with the iconic Barbie and its Spring Summer 2027 collection, Dream Dress-Up. Bringing together péro’s distinctive world of craftsmanship, colour and storytelling with Barbie’s enduring spirit of imagination and possibility, the showcase celebrated the freedom to dress, dream and express oneself without boundaries. Facilitated by Dream Theatre, Mattel’s licensing agency in India, the collaboration marked a new chapter for the Indian design house, bringing its unmistakable aesthetic to one of the world's most recognisable cultural icons.
At the heart of the opening showcase was a shared belief that fashion and beauty are powerful forms of personal expression. Through their association, Lakmē and Tira brought this philosophy to the runway, exploring how the act of dressing up extends beyond clothing to the colours, textures and moods that complete a look. Fashion inspires, beauty transforms, a thought that found a natural expression in péro’s playful world, where individuality takes precedence over convention. While Lakmē brought its beauty perspective to the collaboration, Tira brought the spirit of discovery, together creating a space where beauty became an integral part of the fashion narrative.
For péro, Dream Dress-Up was an invitation to rediscover the joy of getting dressed. Rooted in the idea that there is no single way to define oneself, the collection moved freely between identities, moods and expressions. Softness met strength, femininity existed alongside masculinity, and familiar ideas of how one should dress gave way to a more instinctive, imaginative approach. The collection embraced Barbie’s belief in limitless possibilities while remaining unmistakably péro in its celebration of handmade details, unexpected combinations and the beauty of imperfection.
The Spring Summer 2027 collection featured relaxed silhouettes that encouraged movement, ease and individuality. Playful prints, crochet, lace, bows and intricate handcrafted details came together through péro’s signature approach to layering and textile exploration. Pink, a colour so closely associated with Barbie, was reimagined as something that belonged to everyone, while fluid shapes and unconventional pairings challenged traditional ideas of gender and dressing.
Speaking about the collaboration, Aneeth Arora, Founder & Creative Director, péro, said, “Barbie has always represented the freedom to dream beyond what is expected - to Dress-Up, play with identity and imagine all the different ways of being. That spirit feels very close to péro. I have always believed that clothes should leave space for curiosity, joy and individuality, rather than tell us who we should be. With Dream Dress-Up, we wanted to bring our worlds together through craft, colour and play, and create a season that feels open to everyone.”
One of the collection’s central ideas was the iconic Barbie pink box, reinterpreted as a metaphor for the freedom that exists beyond expectations. Rather than defining who one should be, the box became something to step out of, opening up a world of possibilities. This sentiment ran through the collection, reflecting péro’s belief that clothing should never restrict identity but instead encourage exploration.
Beyond the runway, the opening showcase also marked a significant moment in the Lakmē and Tira association, bringing together leading names in beauty through a collaboration that extends the conversation around beauty, discovery and self-expression. As the Beauty Partners, Lakmē and Tira look beyond the runway to decode the colours, textures, moods and techniques emerging from fashion and translate them into new avenues for beauty discovery. While Lakmē brought its beauty perspective to the collaboration with the Hya Glam range, Tira brought the spirit of discovery, together creating a space where beauty became an integral part of the fashion narrative.
The péro opening showcase brings this philosophy to life, with the designer’s distinctive language of craft, colour and experimentation creating a natural canvas for the beauty conversation. Here, the Lakmē Hya Glam range introduced a seamless touch of colour, beautifully complementing the mood with a refined finish.
Sunanda Khaitan, Chief Marketing Officer, Beauty & Wellbeing, Hindustan Unilever Limited, said, “Having closed our showcase with pēro in March, stepping back into Aneeth’s whimsical world to open this edition felt like pure magic. Her design language is so rich and emotive, and beauty is what breathes life into that canvas, with our new Lakmē 9to5 HYA Glam Range, bringing every look alive with high-impact color, effortless glow, and that unmistakable runway vibe. Together with Tira at Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, this Opening Showcase sets a vibrant new benchmark for fashion and beauty coming together.”
Reflecting on Tira’s association with the opening showcase, Bhakti Modi, CEO & Co-founder, Tira, shared, “What made this showcase special was the way péro brought imagination to the runway, turning the simple joy of dressing up into something wonderfully unexpected. At Tira, we see beauty as an opportunity to add another dimension to that experience, where a touch of colour or a change in texture can completely shift the character of a look. It was exciting to see this spirit come alive through péro’s collaboration with Barbie, celebrating creativity without rules or limitations.”
The opening showcase set the tone for the October 2026 edition of Lakmē Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, bringing together an international cultural collaboration, Indian craftsmanship and a contemporary conversation around beauty and fashion. With Dream Dress-Up, péro offered a reminder that getting dressed is not about fitting into a particular idea of who we should be, but about discovering all the different people we can become.
The péro × Barbie Dream Dress-Up collection is scheduled for a worldwide release in Spring 2027.
