Aretto, a design-led kids’ footwear brand built on the belief that everyone deserves better design, has unveiled ‘U/A: Free the Child’, a new brand campaign celebrating children’s curiosity, individuality and freedom to explore. Marking a new chapter for the brand, the campaign introduces Leaps Pro V and Leaps Pro, two footwear ranges designed for kids/ tweens aged 8–13, bringing together the spirit of free play with the evolving needs of growing feet.
At its heart, ‘Free the Child’ challenges the idea that growing up should mean becoming less curious, expressive or willing to question the ordinary. Through the lens of gen alpha/ tweens who think independently, form their own opinions and engage with the world on their terms, the campaign encourages adults to hold on to the instinct to explore, experiment and ask why.
The campaign’s U/A identity playfully borrows from film certification. It celebrates the uninhibited spirit of childhood while inviting adults to reconsider the rules and expectations that can gradually limit it.
“Growing up should open up a child’s world, not narrow it. The ages of 8 to 13 are discovering their individuality and learning to question the ordinary, and there is much adults can learn from their curiosity. ‘Free the Child’ celebrates that spirit and reminds us that growing up need not mean growing out of who we are. This belief also shapes how we design footwear. As children grow older, their activities, movements and footwear needs evolve. With Leaps Pro V and Leaps Pro, we bring together the support older kids need with the adaptive technology, breathability and flexibility that define Aretto,” said Satyajit Mittal, Founder and CEO, Aretto.
For Aretto, freeing the child also means rethinking the everyday essentials that shape how children move. As their routines become more demanding and their movement more dynamic, footwear must evolve to offer greater support and hold without compromising natural movement. This thinking translates the campaign’s philosophy into design, informed by research into the changing needs of older children.Bringing ‘Free the Child’ to Life Through Leaps Pro V and Leaps Pro Designed for children navigating classrooms, playgrounds, sports and other activities, Leaps Pro V and Leaps Pro combine enhanced support with Aretto’s signature adaptive technology. Both ranges feature patented Supergrooves technology, designed to expand up to three sizes as a child’s foot grows, an Infiknit stretchable, breathable knit upper, and a Squishy Foam shock-absorbing insole.
A flexible, barefoot-style sole supports natural movement, while the non-marking outsole makes the shoes suitable for school corridors and indoor courts. The Pro range also features midfoot panels and a padded collar designed to help secure the foot and heel during fast, multidirectional movement. Leaps Pro V features Velcro straps, while Leaps Pro has elastic laces that can be tied once and worn like slip-ons. Together, the campaign and new ranges reflect Aretto’s belief that children should have the freedom to grow, move and explore on their own terms.
