Nike is launching Vegam Run, its first running shoe designed for India, on November 1. Priced the shoe is designed for running as well as everyday movement.
Nike developed Vegam Run using insights from runners across India on how they run, train and move through their daily lives. The shoe combines cushioning, breathability and durability, with the company positioning it as an entry point into running and everyday movement.
The shoe features an engineered mesh upper, Full-Length Foam and a textured rubber outsole. Perimeter rubber is intended to add durability, while pull tabs allow for easier wear.
“Our ambition with the Vegam Run was simple: honor the voice of the runner in India and build what they need,” said Deepa Ramprasad, sr. director of Nike Road Running Footwear. “The result is a shoe that brings Nike Running, cushioning, comfort and versatility to more athletes while reflecting our long-term commitment to growing sport in India.”
The design also includes colourways inspired by India, including an After Dark Tour colourway linked to the Mumbai stop taking place in December.
“There’s an incredible energy around running in India today, with a new generation embracing movement in ways that are deeply personal, expressive and community-driven," said Tarundeep Singh, general manager, Nike India. "Vegam Run is an invitation to running for more athletes in India and around the world. This new innovation represents our commitment to serving a broader spectrum of athletes, from those taking their first steps into sport to lifelong runners."
Nike says the product moved from design brief to confirmed product in 55 days and from concept to launch in roughly five months, with its product, marketplace and manufacturing teams working on the project.
