Mumbai's luxury footwear brand, Anaar, has marked a significant milestone by making its debut at the globally acclaimed New York Fashion Week (NYFW). With its distinctive hand-embroidered wedged sneakers, Anaar stands as the first Indian footwear brand to join forces with NYFW, bringing a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary fashion to the international stage. In collaboration with renowned designers, Anaar's showcase at NYFW is a testament to its commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining luxury in the world of footwear.
In a remarkable fusion of traditional craftsmanship and global fashion trends, luxury footwear brand Anaar has taken its inaugural step onto the international fashion stage by debuting at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). The brand, known for its exquisite hand-embroidered wedged sneakers, proudly claims the title of India's first footwear brand to partner with NYFW, showcasing their creations in collaboration with designers Kayzie Couture, Stuti Weaves of Pleasure, Kish Jeane, and Haus of Faye/InspireD’Signs.
This exciting journey began when the organizers of NYFW's Runway 7 reached out to Anaar through their Instagram email address in August. Upon securing their role as the official shoe partner, Anaar was provided with a curated list of NYFW designers, each with their Instagram handles, emails, and contacts. This initiated the brand's quest to identify designers whose collections could best complement Anaar's diverse range of shoes, spanning athleisure to traditional wear, including lehengas.
Founder of Anaar, Tanushri Biyani, embarked on a meticulous selection process, meticulously examining Anaar's designer and prêt collection. Following this, extensive discussions, phone calls, and collaborations took place, culminating in a carefully curated showcase for NYFW. Anaar's presentation at NYFW featured an array of footwear, including kitten pumps, platforms, classic sneakers, and wedge sneakers.
Anaar's distinctive approach involved pairing intricately embroidered platform sneakers with gowns and saris, showcasing various techniques such as crochet, zardosi, fine stitching, pattern stitching, lacework, zari, and kantha. Tanushri Biyani emphasized that Anaar's workshop in Mumbai conducts comprehensive research on materials and trends, leading to the creation of over 100 shoe designs.
She highlighted the brand's commitment to comfort, with latex foam insoles for ultimate comfort and sheep leather lining on the inner part of the shoes. The outer part boasts a blend of fabrics, including Dutch satin, linen, jute, and organza. While Anaar has gained recognition for its embroidered sneakers, it is now setting its sights on embroidered boots and pumps, recognizing their potential as emerging trends in the footwear fashion world.
The debut at NYFW was not without memorable moments. One standout interaction occurred when a male model tried on a metallic sneaker from Anaar's collection and immediately made a purchase, praising the exceptional comfort of the shoe. Anaar's debut at NYFW marks a significant milestone in the brand's journey, as it continues to captivate fashion enthusiasts with its fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary style.
