The Global Textile Technology and Engineering Show (GTTES 2025), organized by the Indian International Textile Machinery Exhibitions Society (India ITME Society), successfully concluded its three-day run at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, Goregaon (East), Mumbai. Held from 21st to 23rd February, the event marked a milestone for India's textile industry, fostering technological advancements and international cooperation in textile machinery.
GTTES 2025 was inaugurated with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and witnessed the participation of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Kailash Shinde, Commissioner of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, and Roop Rashi Mahapatra, the Textiles Commissioner of the Government of India. The event also welcomed international representatives such as His Excellency Gideon Labane, Consul General of South Africa in Mumbai; His Excellency Alexandre Matsuko, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Mumbai; Konstantin Pichuk, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Mumbai; and Idris Rauko, Advisor to the President of Burkina Faso and former Ambassador to India. Delegations from the Botswana High Commission, the Burundi Embassy, the Consulate General of Myanmar, and the Consulate General of Turkey further reinforced the global significance of the event.
A Hub for Innovation and Business Growth
Speaking at the inauguration, Ketan Sanghvi, Chairman of the Steering Committee of India ITME Society, emphasized GTTES’s role as a hub for technological innovation and industry collaboration. The event hosted exhibitors from 39 countries, with over 210 participants showcasing cutting-edge textile machinery solutions.
“This exclusive forum serves as a launchpad for companies to present their latest innovations while fostering invaluable business connections. With the textile industry contributing 13% of India’s industrial production, 2.3% to the GDP, and 12% to foreign exchange inflows, GTTES 2025 has significantly enhanced business and trade opportunities for textile machinery manufacturers,” said Sanghvi.
Key Discussions on Sustainability and Technological Advancements
Roop Rashi Mahapatra highlighted the efforts of Mumbai’s administrative leaders in leveraging technology for urban development. She acknowledged key contributors such as the Textile Committee, SBI Foundation, and NIFT as knowledge partners, appreciating their role in the success of the initiative.
Dr. Kailash Shinde addressed the urgent need for sustainability in the textile industry, pointing out the growing challenge of textile waste. He detailed a pilot project launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, TSR, USBI Foundation, Grassy Ma’am, and Reliance Industries, focusing on recycling and upcycling textile waste. “With 2.4 kilotons of textile waste generated per annum from a single metropolitan area, the need for sustainable waste management solutions is critical,” he remarked.

Digital Printing: Innovations from ColorJet India Limited.
Processing Segment: New technologies by Caru-Natex and National Electrical Engineering Company.
Spinning Spare Parts: Creative solutions from Samruddhi Engineering.
Industrial Solutions: New services by Ingersoll-Rand (India) Limited.
Knitting & Garmenting: Advanced technology showcased by Vertex Edge Tech.
These innovations underscored the industry's commitment to improving efficiency and embracing technological advancements in textile machinery.
Industry Symposiums and Future Initiatives
A special session by the Government of India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) focused on the role of standardization in textile machinery and the significance of Open Trading Rights (OTR). Additionally, the B2B Pavilion hosted ceremonial signings of Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), strengthening industry partnerships.
The Symposium on Indigenous Development of Textile Machinery, sponsored by Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (VJTI) in collaboration with the Federation of Societies for Indian Development (FSID) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bangalore, highlighted the importance of domestic innovation in textile machinery.
Looking Ahead: India ITME 2026
The event also marked the official inauguration of India ITME 2026, setting the stage for the future of India’s textile industry. The India ITME Awards honored outstanding contributions to textile technology, celebrating excellence and innovation in the sector.
