Tul Palav, a unique Kashmiri designer brand, honoured Kashmir’s rich heritage, local artisans, and designers at a heritage display in Mumbai. At a time when the nation mourns the tragic attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Tul Palav believes that preserving the authentic culture of Kashmir is more vital than ever.
Tul Palav’s journey has always been one of honouring Kashmir's heritage through meticulous craftsmanship and meaningful storytelling. The brand organized a heritage display to showcase its latest collection at the prestigious Taj Lands End, Mumbai, on April 27, 2025. This purposeful launch, ‘Matamaal,’ was not a mere fashion show. It served as a heartfelt tribute to Kashmir’s cultural legacy, which resonates with today’s fashion sensibilities.
Esteemed voices from the entertainment industry lent their support to the brand’s voice and message: to move forward with purpose, standing strong in cherishing and preserving Kashmir’s unique authenticity and vibrant culture. Cultural icons, including the musical duo Vishal and Rekha Bhardwaj, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, Onir, Sajid Ali and actress Saumya Tandon and Simple Kaul came together to underscore a shared sentiment that the spirit of Kashmir must not be silenced by adversity. Not only this, the event saw many other prominent stylists from Mumbai. The evening concluded with High Tea and a soulful Rabab performance by renowned Kashmiri artist Adnan Manzoor.
Iqra, the head designer and creative genius behind Tul Palav, said, "As the whole nation grieves after the recent tragedy in Pahalgam, its resilient spirit endures, inspiring us to come together. In a humble tribute, we've channeled the beauty, strength, and essence of Kashmir into our latest collection through authentic craftsmanship and art. Mumbai, India's fashion capital, provides the perfect platform to share this collection, which showcases unique design elements inspired by Kashmir's breathtaking landscapes and vibrant traditions. Born out of our profound love and respect for Kashmir, this collection is a testament to the power of creativity in connecting hearts and preserving what truly matters.”
The Tul Palav collection presented a diverse range of apparel for varied occasions. The brand envisions the revival and contemporary adaptation of the iconic Kashmiri pheran. By reimagining this traditional winter silhouette in lightweight, breathable fabrics like Chanderi silk, Mukaish georgette, chikankari, and pure silk, the collection aims to reintroduce the pheran as a versatile, multi-seasonal garment suitable for everyday elegance and special celebrations.
