The Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, inaugurated its newly renovated sustainable textile laboratory, supported by Archroma India Pvt. Ltd. under its CSR programme. The event was graced by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Aniruddha Pandit, senior professors including Prof. Mangesh Teli, and members of the senior management team of Archroma—marking a proud moment of collaboration between academia and industry.

The upgraded facility significantly strengthens ICT’s capability to conduct fundamental research and develop next-generation technologies in textile processing, manufacturing, and effluent treatment. With the sector facing evolving environmental and operational challenges, the enhanced laboratory is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering innovation in sustainable and resource-efficient textile technologies.
This CSR initiative further enriches the student learning environment by providing improved infrastructure for practical training and scientific exploration. It equips future professionals with the skills and exposure required to meet emerging industry needs, at a time when only a select few institutes continue to serve the textile sector with such specialised depth.
The laboratory will also extend its impact beyond the academic sphere by supporting community-oriented programmes. It will offer training for small entrepreneurs, artisans, and local stakeholders in eco-friendly, value-added processes—contributing meaningfully to broader sustainable development goals.

Speaking on the occasion, Anjani Prasad, Managing Director & Regional Vice President – South Asia, Global Head – Innovation, Colorants & Speciality Chem, Archroma, said: “Archroma is proud to partner with ICT in advancing sustainable innovation for the textile industry. This upgraded laboratory reflects our shared commitment to supporting research, empowering young talent, and enabling the transition towards cleaner, future-ready technologies. We believe this collaboration will create long-term value not just for students and researchers, but for the entire ecosystem committed to sustainability.”
