In a strategic push to bolster Telangana’s textile industry, the state’s Industries and IT Minister, D Sridhar Babu, has extended a warm invitation to Taiwanese industrialists, urging them to invest and become pivotal contributors to the state’s “Rising Telangana” growth story. During a courtesy visit on Friday by a high-level 11-member Taiwanese textile delegation led by Justin Huang, President of the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), the Minister showcased Telangana’s rapid progress and the strong potential it holds in the textile manufacturing ecosystem.
“Telangana has emerged as a competitive force in the Indian textile landscape within a remarkably short span,” the Minister said, noting that the Gross State Value Added (GSVA) from industries in FY 2024–25 has reached ₹2.77 lakh crore, with textiles being a significant contributor. He further emphasized that the state is known for producing some of the highest-quality cotton in the country.
Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted the transformative role of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), calling it a “game-changer” for the industry. Designed with a holistic vision, the KMTP offers integrated, world-class infrastructure covering the entire textile value chain — from ginning and spinning to weaving, processing, and garmenting. “Global companies such as Youngone, Kitex, and Ganesha Ecosphere have already set up operations in the park,” he stated. He also pointed out the strategic connectivity of KMTP to the Hyderabad–Nagpur–Vijayawada Industrial Corridor, backed by strong logistics and transport infrastructure.
The Minister underscored significant investment opportunities in areas such as functional textiles, eco-friendly dyeing technologies, and textile recycling. He assured the delegation of the Telangana Government’s unwavering commitment to facilitating industrial growth through global partnerships.
“We provide customised land parcels, plug-and-play facilities, a skilled talent pool, stable governance, and a favourable geographic location,” the Minister said. He also identified sectors like technical textiles, ESDM (Electronics System Design & Manufacturing), sustainable manufacturing, innovation, and R&D as key avenues for collaboration with Taiwanese enterprises.
In a forward-looking proposal, Minister Sridhar Babu suggested the possibility of establishing a dedicated Telangana–Taiwan Manufacturing Zone and exclusive textile clusters if Taiwanese investors decide to enter the state. He reaffirmed the government’s readiness to work in close partnership with the Taiwan Textile Federation to drive mutual growth and innovation in the textile sector.
