Cantabil Retail India Ltd. welcomes the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure for the apparel sector in line with the latest notification issued by the Government of India. The company has also pledged to pass on the benefit of the reduced tax rates directly to its customers across all its retail outlets nationwide and the E-Commerce platforms.
Under the new framework, apparel & footwear items priced up to ₹1,000 will continue to attract 5% GST, meaning there will be no change in the effective cost to customers. The major benefit comes in the mid-range category, where apparel priced between ₹1,001 and ₹2,500 will now be taxed at 5% instead of 12%. This 7% reduction will immediately translate into more affordable prices for shoppers. On the other hand, apparel priced above ₹2,500 will see GST increase from 12% to 18%, which the company will charge the same up to the increased amount of tax only to remain compliant.
Cantabil assured customers that the transition will be carried out smoothly, with complete price transparency and compliance. The company emphasized that the move underscores its commitment to operational integrity and customer welfare, values it has consistently upheld since inception.
“We welcome the government’s decision to rationalize GST rates in the interest of consumers and the retail industry,” said Deepak Bansal, Director, Cantabil Retail (India) Ltd. “At Cantabil, our priority has always been customer-centricity and ethical business practices. We are pleased to extend the benefit of the reduced GST burden directly to our customers, ensuring fair pricing and enhanced value with every purchase.”
With a strong retail presence across India, Cantabil has built its reputation on delivering premium fashion at competitive prices. The company said that aligning with the revised GST framework further strengthens its ethos of responsible and customer-first retailing, while continuing to deliver quality, trust, and progressive shopping experiences.
