In a significant retail milestone, Onitsuka Tiger has announced the launch of its first outlet in the city at Phoenix Mall of Asia, Bengaluru, which also marks the brand’s only concept store in India to date (as per the announcement by the mall’s management on LinkedIn).

This flagship outlet is designed to offer consumers a full immersion into the brand’s ethos and heritage — with the complete product assortment available under one roof, from classic silhouettes and seasonal collections to exclusive editions, footwear, apparel, and accessories.

Founded in Japan in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka, the brand is known for its pioneering role in athletic shoes, which later evolved into the lifestyle segment celebrated today. Its signature stripes and fusion of heritage and contemporary aesthetics have earned it a global following. The brand now sits under the umbrella of ASICS and continues a legacy of innovation and craftsmanship.

By establishing a concept store in Bengaluru, Onitsuka Tiger seeks to deepen its presence in India’s growing premium footwear and fashion market. The Bengaluru store joins a network of Outlets and mono-brand stores across the country, but holds particular symbolic weight as a specialized concept store designed to provide a more curated, experiential retail environment.

In the official store locator, Onitsuka Tiger’s Indian site lists several stores across cities such as Pune, but none currently designate a concept-store status, making this Bengaluru opening a noteworthy first for the brand in the Indian market. 

Retail analysts note that concept stores underscore a brand’s commitment to brand identity, immersive consumer experience, and exclusive offerings — rather than merely transactional retail. For Onitsuka Tiger, this store is expected to function not just as a shop, but as an experiential space where customers can connect deeply with the brand narrative, craftsmanship, and new launches.
