AK|OK Anamika Khanna arrived in Paris with Spring/Summer 2027, marking a significant new chapter for the brand. Across a two-day showroom on 4th and 5th October, AK|OK brought its distinctive world to the city with an exclusive presentation on 5 October.
Paris was more than the setting for this moment. Its contemporary spirit, instinct for individuality and constant dialogue between what is and what can be reinvented resonates deeply with the world of AK|OK. Fluid, expressive and without fixed rules, the city became a natural meeting point.
That sensibility runs through Spring/Summer 2027, which finds new possibilities in the familiar. Shirts, jackets, trousers, skirts and dresses are reworked through proportion, construction and styling, creating pieces that feel intuitive yet unexpected. Versatility sits at the heart of the collection, with layered, lived in dressing allowing each garment to move naturally between moods, moments and identities.
The collection draws from the textures and nuances of modern India, bringing chikankari, also known as shadow work, alongside hand painting, print, metal thread embroidery and layered embroidery. These elements are distorted, displaced and placed one over another, bringing traditional craft into a contemporary wardrobe with ease and nonchalance.
There is also a fascination with what is incomplete, interrupted, layered, faded or only partially seen. Familiar fragments of nature and everyday life appear throughout: a bird, a flowerpot, a suggestion of the forest. Hand painting dissolves into print, embroidery overlaps embroidery, and familiar garments are reconstructed into new forms.
The collection unfolds within the setting of a modern Indian home, where objects, textures and details bring contemporary Indian sensibilities into the space, with the familiar and new sitting effortlessly alongside one another.
Anamika Khanna, Creative Director and Co-Founder, AK|OK says, “C’est OK is about giving yourself permission to be exactly who you are. With this collection, we took familiar pieces and looked at them differently, through proportion, craft and the way they are worn. There is something very liberating about taking what you know and making it your own. For me, that is the spirit of AK|OK: ease, individuality and the freedom to find your own way.”
The SS27 showroom and showcase mark a beginning: a first conversation with Paris's fashion community across press, buyers, stylists, talent and industry stakeholders. The intention is a sustained relationship with the city, with future collaborations and activations to follow.
